My name is Karoline and I currently live in Hønefoss, Norway. At 30th of August, which is eight days from now, I will go to Bronson, Michigan and become an exchange student. I will stay there until June next year.
The Trip:
Like I said, I will be leaving at August 30th. I don’t know the exact time, but I know the route will be Oslo – Frankfurt – Chicago – Kalamazoo. Hopefully I’ll make all the flights!
The Family:
I have a host mum. Her name is Marilyn, she is 66 years old and a retired teacher. Marilyn lives by herself with a dog which is a mix between an Alaskan Huskie and an Alaskan Malamute. Her name is Billy, but Marilyn refers to her as a she, so I guess that’s what she is. She is so cute!
Marilyn has a nephew, Bill, who is also my area representative! He lives not far away. Marilyn has many hobbies, like church activities, sewing, cooking, running and gardening.
Along with Marilyn and I, a Korean exchange student is going to live there. Her name is Min Ji and she has actually already arrived there, at Friday 18th of August. I think she is having a great time so far! She is my age and I just can’t wait to meet her.
The Place:
Bronson is a little town with 2,500 inhabitans. It’s near a lake, Lake Bronson. Bronson is mostly known as the US’ largest producer of gladiolus, hosts of the largest snowmobile auction in the world, and have a city hall made of plastic which were built in fourteen hours.
Some other close cities are Coldwater and Battle Creek. Bronson lies in the middle of Detroit and Chicago, it’s about the same distance to each of them.
The school:
The name of it is Bronson Jr./Sr. High School and it’s about 5 miles (8 km) away from where I’m going to live. I will take the school bus there everyday. There’s 670 pupils on the school, which I think it’s a nice amount. They have some really interesting classes and I want to take Creative Publications, Chemistry, Spanish, American Literature as some of the classes.
I don’t really know what more to write now. If there’s anything more you’re wondering about, just comment and ask! Or just comment anyway, they are highly appreciated. Until next blog, have a great time!
